Supporting the development of a health promoting schools programme
As part of the EU-PHARE funded programmes for Bulgaria, the team provided project management and skills training for the formation of a core unit in Bulgaria. This unit was set up to be capable to roll out a health promoting schools programme based on the whole school approach of WHO. The range of activities included:
-
Developing a strong team within the National Institute of Public Health in Bulgaria (now the National Centre of Public Health Protection).
-
A training-the-trainers programme to provide a cascade model to roll out across Bulgaria.
-
A study tour and team building exercise in the UK.
-
Advice on active training methods and curriculum development which lead to the development and publication of 'My Health, My School' A Practical Guide for Health Promotion in Schools.
