Facilitation of country partners and high-level conference
The team provided key facilitation for the country partners work, bringing together partners on behalf of the Department of Health to explore early years child development, and the economic case for action on the social determinants of health during the commission.
The team successfully organised the high-level international conference following the publication of the WHO CSDH final report ‘Closing the Gap in a generation: Health Equity through actions on the social determinants of health’, which was hosted by the Secretary of State and the Department of Health and opened by the UK Prime Minister.
The conference was acknowledged as a seminal event in promoting work on the social determinants of health. The team played an integral role in the subsequent drafting and passing of a resolution on the social determinants of health at the World Health Assembly.
